Why Home Care?

People enjoy the comfort of being in their own home, and many studies show that individuals are happier, healthier, and can recover from illness more quickly when they can remain at home. There are various reasons someone may seek home care. It’s not just aging adults who need assistance with personal care services, meal preparation, housekeeping, and running errands; sometimes, individuals require temporary help while recovering from an accident, illness, or surgery. A new mother can greatly benefit from homemaking services, such as assistance with meal preparation or help caring for other children while she tends to her newborn. Similarly, a patient who has undergone outpatient surgery or has been discharged from the hospital may not be fully prepared to take care of themselves or manage their home as they recuperate. We will refer quality care providers who can offer both long-term and short-term home care options.

Why Home Care Services Are Essential

Hospital stays after surgery, or for events such as births or illness, have become much shorter than they were in the past. For instance, a person with pneumonia in the 1950s might have spent several weeks to a month in the hospital, while someone who underwent heart surgery could have been hospitalized for a similar duration. Today, it’s common for individuals to have extensive surgeries, like a bypass operation or a hysterectomy, and be discharged within just a few days. Additionally, many surgical procedures are now performed at outpatient facilities, eliminating the need for a hospital stay altogether. However, this quick transition can present challenges for patients who feel they are sent home before they are truly ready to care for themselves, their homes, or their families. That’s where our home care services come in—we connect you with care providers who can assist until you feel confident managing on your own. These professionals offer personal care services and homemaking services to help you get back on your feet. They can even accompany you to doctor appointments for follow-ups or take you to physical therapy if necessary. Whatever your needs, we’re here to ensure you’re not left to fend for yourself during your recovery!
